Sweet, toasty aroma with cocoa, cherry, and nutty tones. Flavors of citrus, malt, pine, and mild dark chocolate. Full-bodied, low acidity, and smoothly lingering.

Grown under shade and still in its early productive years, Finca La Esperanza comes from a 2.5-acre family farm in the village of Soritor in San Martin. Owner Walter Gutierrez purchased the long-neglected property in 2007 and gradually restored it into a thriving environment for high-quality organic Peruvian coffee. The coffee grows among corn and cocoa, proving the farm’s potential far beyond what the previous owner believed. As the Gutierrez family expanded their agricultural knowledge and earned organic certification, the cup profile continued to improve year after year.

Coffee is Peru’s leading agricultural export, and the country ranks among the world’s top producers of arabica. It is also a hub for organic cultivation, with more than 220,000 farms practicing natural growing methods across the Northern Andes. Farmers typically rely on compost, avoid chemicals and pesticides, and reuse coffee pulp and other plant material to enrich the soil. These practices have helped create a balanced ecosystem that supports birds and gentle wildlife, while San Martin’s rainforest offers fertile, nutrient-rich ground that elevates the quality of the beans.
